Volkswagen resumes manufacturing in Córdoba next Wednesday

Volkswagen Group Argentina, under the express authorization of the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Mining of the province of Córdoba, will resume its production activities on April 29 at the Córdoba Industrial Center.

Thomas Owsianski, President and CEO of Volkswagen Group Argentina stated: “The protection and health of our collaborators are our priority, so we have prepared intensively for the start of production in recent weeks, establishing an online health and safety protocol. with the recommendations of the national and provincial government, and endorsed by the workers’ representatives. Córdoba will be the first plant of the Group in the region to resume its productive operations. “

For this, a progressive production shift schedule has been established. The first week a total of 3,573 transmission boxes and components will be produced; During the second week 7,082 would be produced, in the third week 7,790, and in the fourth week a production of 8,040 boxes and components will be achieved. In this way, it could comply with the committed production orders and international contracts, given that 100% of the production is for export.

Likewise, the plant will continue to be prepared for the new project, the MQ281 box, whose production would start in May. For this transmission, the group allocated an investment of US $ 150 million and it will be 100% for export to Europe.

Volkswagen Group Argentina has established a strict health and safety protocol that is in line with the recommendations of the national and provincial government, which has the endorsement of SMATA.

Some of the measures to be implemented are the following:

• Hygiene measures will be extreme between each shift
• Sanitizer dispensers will be implemented at various points in the plants
• The temperature will be taken periodically to the employees
• The use of masks will be mandatory
• A distance of 1.5 meters, established with marks at all access points, among others, must be respected.

On the other hand, a constant dialogue will be maintained with the national and provincial government, the workers’ representatives and the entire value chain, to take and adapt the necessary measures depending on how COVID-19 continues to advance in Argentina.
