Tragedy in Almirante Brown: a man died after the explosion of his house due to a gas leak

A home from the Buenos Aires town of Almirante Brown exploded by a gas leak and a man was trapped under the rubble. The firefighters in the area managed to rescue him and after transferring him to the hospital in serious condition, died.

The dramatic episode occurred around 6:30 p.m. in a house located between Alvear and La Rioja streets, in the neighborhood Saint Joseph. According to the first images captured by Telenoche (eltrece), the first floor of the building is the most affected by the explosion.

The news of the death of ceferinoa 97-year-old man and owner of the house, was confirmed by Chronicle tonight.

As reported by firefighters, the man was trapped in the rubble and fire after the first floor it would completely collapse. The explosion was of such magnitude that part of the house ended up on the sidewalk and reached the street, where the pumper is stationed. Even the fire personnel had to enter the place through the house next door that suffered damages due to the explosion.

The owner of the house had to be transferred urgently to the General Zonal Hospital Dr. Arturo Oñativia because of the serious injuries he suffered and after a few hours, from the health center confirmed his death.

“The windows exploded and the two vehicles that were in the yard were destroyed. There is furniture inside my house, clothes, a terrible tragedy. My mother, my grandmother, my little brother and my nephew were at my house at the time of the explosion, and when they came out it was all smoke, there was no telling what had happened,” explained Miranda, a neighbor of the place to TN.

People close to the home indicated that the firefighters were slow to arrive and it was they themselves who tried to put out the fire, while the fatal victim was trapped under a wall, with her legs destroyed.
