A 73-year-old man died and 98 people were diagnosed with coronavirus, totaling 43 deaths and 1,453 positive cases since the start of the pandemic in Argentina, as reported by the Ministry of Health, at the end of a day in which President Alberto Fernández affirmed that the release of the quarantine ordered until April 12, “will be gradual and very careful.”

“We have planned that next Sunday the quarantine will end, but it is day by day, you have to see how it evolves. Getting out of quarantine has to be a very careful thing,” said the president.

The President explained that the isolation “is going to be opened gradually and there will be cases that must continue in quarantine” and, in this framework, he gave as an example that, “surely, the boys will continue without going to school, the public administration will continue to work remotely and the elementary people will attend to be able to move, and the quarantine will continue in older adults”.

To analyze the modality that can be given to this relaxation of quarantine, Fernández met this afternoon in Olivos with the members of the economic cabinet, according to Télam.

The chief of staff Santiago Cafiero participates in the meeting; the Deputy Chief of Staff, Cecilia Todesca; and the Ministers of Economy, Martín Guzmán; of Work, Claudio Moroni; and of Productive Development, Matías Kulfas.

At the international level, Italy and Spain today confirmed the downward trend in the number of infections due to the pandemic, while on the other side of the Atlantic, the situation worsened dramatically in the United States, with more than 300,000 infected, where the desperate fight for the purchase of medical supplies once again confronted President Donald Trump with the governors.

Meanwhile, China, where Covid-19 emerged four months ago, gradually lifted restrictions on movements and today paid tribute throughout its territory to the victims of the disease and to the “martyrs” of the health system who gave their lives to save others.

Already almost without local cases, the Asian giant announced a new contagion in the first epicenter of the outbreak, the city of Wuhan, and 18 other people arriving from abroad, bringing the total number of infected to 82,543, while with four new deaths, the deaths rose to 3,330.

Since the start of the epidemic in late 2019, the coronavirus has infected 1,187,798 people and killed 64,084 in more than 180 countries, according to data from the North American Johns Hopkins University.

The encouraging news reached Italy and Spain, the two countries most plagued by the pandemic in Europe, which are also those with the most deaths worldwide.

While the government insists that it will be necessary “to coexist with the coronavirus until there is a vaccine”, Italy registered 681 deaths with Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, the first time that it falls from 700 deaths daily since March 26 last.
