Who are the “other corcholatas” who did not attend the meeting with AMLO

The race to run for the presidential candidacy for 2024 began when the local elections in Coahuila and the State of Mexico ended. Just one day after the elections, the leaders of the National Regeneration Movement (Brunette) and the president Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador (AMLO) met with the internal candidates for the presidential office, however, not all the candidates attended.

However, this “board” was described as one more step to define the internal contest for the official candidate representing the cherry party and the self-styled 4T, and although each of the presidential candidates denied such facts, they were not sent. the speculations.

Although the meeting was for the morenistas and “corcholatas”, he highlighted the absence of the other possible candidates for the candidacy who, although they are not officially part of the party, do recognize themselves as part of the project of the Fourth Transformation (4T).

Among the “other corcholatas” the federal deputy of the Labor Party stands out (PT), Gerardo Fernandez Norona, and the former governor of Chiapas, Manuel Velascorepresented by the Green Ecologist Party of Mexico (PVEM), which declined in favor of Morena in the local elections to ensure the alliance towards 2024.

Both the PT and PVEM launched their profiles to compete in the Morena polls, however, when talking about the presidential candidacy, Noroña and Velasco are not taken into account along with the favorite “corcholatas” of the Head of the Federal Executive.

In fact, before the recent meetings of the members of Morena, it was the PT deputy himself who complained to the Morena leadership and the federal president for not including him in the call, however, he assured that such “scorns” they will not influence your aspirations to compete.

In an interview with the media in the Chamber of Deputies, the petista showed his anger at the decisions of the “comrade president” whom he claimed for giving indistinct treatment between the applicants. This is the first time that Noroña highlights the contempt of the party and of the “corcholatas” themselves.

“There is no reason for the fellow president to have that treatment that he has with me (…) and if in a next meeting he does not want to invite me, then he should not invite me, it is already clear to me that he does not want to invite me. Won’t that prevent me from participating? No (…) of course it is a fraternal claim to a partner who is not treating me as a partner, ”said the petista.

More than a year after the 2024 elections, where not only the position of the federal Executive head will be renewed, but also local positions and the head of Government of Mexico CityOr, the profiles to compete for the positions are already beginning to dazzle, especially for the presidential one.

After the meeting with AMLO, the Mexican foreign minister announced that he will resign as head of the Foreign Relations Secretariat, to dedicate his time “fully” to his candidacy and to compete in the party’s internal poll. He has been the only internal presidential candidate who has officially positioned himself to run for office, however, the brunette leadership does not rule out that other “corcholatas” join these actions in the near future.
