Universities and schools bet on virtual education during quarantine

After the arrival of coronavirus to Argentina, President Alberto Fernández announced on March 15 the suspension of classroom classes until the end of the month to prevent the circulation of the disease. However, one week after the deadline and in light of the daily increase in positive cases, the Government does not rule out an extension of the measure.

Faced with this situation, many primary, secondary and university level institutions bet on remote teaching. Through their own platforms, social networks and Internet portals, they seek to shorten the distance and accompany their students during the time in which the classrooms remain closed.

An example of this is the Buenos Aires School, which has a virtual campus to which all students have access. Through it, teachers can publish content and activities corresponding to each subject. In addition, teachers also use less formal routes such as WhatsApp groups to notify students about new tasks, resources and proposals that are incorporated into the platform.

For its part, the ORT Elementary School He also expressed his desire to keep the community connected. For this he launched the hashtag #ORTENCASA, that accompanied the different activities that were carried out by various platforms such as Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, Zoom and the Virtua Campusl of the institution. Furthermore, through telephone and email contacts, the authorities maintain permanent communication with parents and students, evacuating doubts and informing about the new content in their virtual spaces.

Regarding the university level, the Argentine University of Business (UADE) She was one of those who announced that she will continue teaching “remotely and virutally.” Through a statement he shared on Twitter and sent to all students, he confirmed that he will temporarily migrate face-to-face activities to his online campus, WebCampus, where students will have at their disposal all the teaching materials.

The measure is replicated in schools and universities across the country and will begin to work much more if children, adolescents and adults must continue at home to comply with the quarantine.
