All new models of Apple’s mobile phone will have an OLED screen. The iPhone 12 will have a 5.4-inch and the 12 Max 6.1-inch.
The Covid-19 crisis could delay the launch of the new one by a few weeks iPhone this year but even with this delay, the final characteristics of the new phone should already be more or less defined.
It is in the boreal spring when Apple begins to make decisions about the final manufacturing process of the model that will be released in September or October and, therefore, when the rumors begin to be more reliable.
And those rumors point to a very ambitious iPhone by 2020. Jon Prosser, a technology analyst who in recent years has achieved a surprising level of access to the company’s plans, revealed this weekend some of the characteristics of the new phone, including possible sale prices, which this year would be a little more low.
This year the Californian company announced a new series of its cheap version of the world’s best-selling mobile phone.
This year Apple announced the new iPhone SEs.
New screen for new iPhone
According to Prosser, this year Apple will present for four iPhone models. The iPhone 12 and 12 Pro and its variants with a larger screen size (iPhone 12 Max and iPhone 12 Pro Max).
All will have an OLED screen. The iPhone 12 will have a 5.4-inch and the 12 Max 6.1-inch. The Pro variants would have a screen with a refresh rate of up to 120 Hz (double that of the iPhone now although similar to that of some Android phone models that are already on the market). They will also be larger than standard models. The iPhone 12 Pro will have a screen size of 6.1 inches and the Pro Max 6.7 inches.
The higher refresh rate will allow movement through web pages or in games to be much more fluid. It is a feature that is already present in some iPad models but has a strong impact on the battery. This is the reason why it has not made an appearance on iPhone until now.
All iPhone phones this year will have an A14 chip and support for 5G networks, but the amount of RAM will be different. The normal models will have 4 GB while the Pro will have 6 GB.
Storage capacity will also be different. The iPhone 12 and 12 Max can be purchased with 128GB and 256GB of space. The Pro will add the option of 512 GB of capacity.
More powerful cameras on new iPhone
Cameras have become the best enabling feature for segmenting iPhones and this year will be no exception. Both the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Max will have the same configuration of dual camera who now has iPhone 11.
A dual camera with a wide angle lens and another wide angle lens. Obviously, and although the camera configuration is the same, these phones will use a new and improved sensor.
For Pro models, Apple will keep triple camera settings but could jump to 3X optical zoom instead of 2X, as they now have their phones and will add a LiDAR, similar to that incorporated in the latest iPad pro and that allows the distance to objects present in a scene to be accurately measured. This sensor will be key in augmented reality applications.
FaceID, the facial recognition authentication system, will also improve, increasing the angle and distance in which it is able to recognize the user. Rumors are also circulating of the return of TouchID (fingerprint recognition), integrated into the screen, but it is unlikely to happen in this generation of iPhone. Perhaps it will refine the user’s chinstrap identification.

The new iPhones will have improvements in their cameras.
New design for the new iPhone
The new features will come with a design change on the phone. Instead of the rounded sides that have accompanied the iPhone in recent years, Apple would opt for a visual language more similar to that of the iPad Pro or iPhone 4 and 5, with flat edges. There will also be a new color that will replace the midnight green of this generation and that will be similar to a navy blue.
The phones will be made on an aluminum chassis in the case of the iPhone 12 and 12 Max and a stainless steel one (and therefore heavier) in the case of the Pro models.
The phones could also be announced together with a new pair of larger AirPods wireless headphones, with headband and cup design that would be known as AirPods Studio.
The iPhone 12 would start at $ 649 for the 128 GB model, a reduction of $ 50 compared to the current iPhone 11. Its Max variant would start at $ 749.
In the case of the Pro, prices would start at $ 999 and $ 1,099 respectively, similar to the current iPhone 11 Pro. Final prices, in any case, are decided much closer to the presentation date, so these figures could change in the coming months.
