The Frente de Todos, through the deputy Carolina Gaillard, convened the Impeachment Committee of the Chamber of Deputies to begin dealing with the request for impeachment against the Supreme Court of Justice, presented days ago by President Alberto Fernández.

Gaillard is the current head of the commission that must approve the initiative promoted by the presidentto be dealt with in the lower house of Congress.

In addition to the date, the novelty has to do with the fact that the Government decided to include all the impeachment projects against members of the Court (12, in total). Among them are two initiatives presented years ago by representatives of the Civic Coalition, led by Elisa Carrió at the national level.

The Government summoned the Impeachment Commission: when will they meet?

This way, The 31 members of the organization will meet next Thursday at 11 in the morning to analyze more than a dozen projects with the same objective: to remove judges from the Court for “bad performance.”

The ruling party has the possibility of approving the project, although it needs perfect assistance. The body is made up of 16 government deputies, 14 from Juntos por el Cambio and 1 from Interbloque Federal -which has already spoken out against it-.

The next step would be the most complicated for the management of Alberto Fernández, since The opposition assured that if the request advances, it will be presented at the venue to block the proposal. In this instance, the ruling party does not have the two-thirds necessary to approve the removal of the magistrates and it will be difficult for it to be transferred to the Senate.

From the legislative body they clarified that the process can take up to two months and, according to the schedule, the authors of the projects would be summoned on February 2 to give “admissibility” to the complaints a week later. The next stage would contemplate the summons of defendants and witnesses.

Businessmen reject political judgment to the Court

A group of around 500 businessmen sent a 17-page letter to the Chamber of Deputies to warn that a political trial against the Supreme Court of Justice, would directly affect private investment in the country.

Among the executives who sign are Facundo Gómez Minujin (JP Morgan-Amcham), Gonzalo Tanoira (ACDE-San Miguel), Arturo Acevedo (Acíndar), Cristiano Rattazzi (Fiat), Gastón Remy (Nuqlea), Roberto Murchison, Claudio Cesario (ABA ), Guibert Englebienne (Globant) and Eduardo Gorchs (Siemens Argentina).

It was also signed by Alejandro Elsztain (Cresud), Luis Bameule (AEA), Gerardo Cartellone, Carlos Miguens, Eduardo Caride, Javier Goñi (Ledesma), Juan Vaquer (Dupont), Silvia Bulla (Danisco), Nicolás Braun (La Anónima) and Enrique Cristofani. In addition, Juan Carlos Cassagne, Máximo Founruge, Cecilia Mairal and Javier Patrón (Estudio Marval), César Litvin and Santiago Mignone (PwC), Guillermo Lipera (Idea), Alberto Garay (City Bar Association) and Juan Vaquer ( Dupont-ACDE).

Among the arguments, they indicated that “respect for the division of powers and compliance with the judgments of the Judiciary are essential elements of said framework and fundamental for the existence and maintenance of private investment and job creation, the only way to reduce the poverty that affects a large part of our fellow citizens,” they warned.

“Who is going to invest in a country that permanently changes the rules of the game and is unaware of the rulings of Justice?”, they added.
