MEXICO CITY, Mar 20 (Reuters) – The president of the Mexican Soccer League, Enrique Bonilla, reported on Friday that he tested positive for coronavirus, although he clarified that he does not present serious symptoms.
The coronavirus outbreak has infected nearly 253,000 people and caused more than 10,400 deaths worldwide. In Mexico there are 203 affected and two deaths.
“I wish to inform you that after carrying out the pertinent studies on COVID-19, I have tested positive. So far, I have no serious symptoms and I will remain in quarantine as indicated by the authorities of the Ministry of Health,” Bonilla said in a statement.
The manager is the second character in Mexican soccer with a coronavirus, after Tuesday the president of the Atlético de San Luis club, the Spanish Alberto Marrero, came out positive.
