The southern highlands of the country will endure extreme cold between Thursday, May 11 and Friday, May 12. According to the National Service of Meteorology and Hydrology (Senamhi), the temperature in that sector of Peru will begin to decrease from today and frost will be recorded over the weekend.

The cold will be felt more rigorously in the high areas of Puno, Tacna, Arequipa, Apurímac and Ayacucho. Localities above 4,000 meters above sea level are the most vulnerable.
