Coronavirus: they will build an isolation center in Barrio 31 for positive cases

The Armed forces build an isolation center with 700 beds in the area of ​​the naval station, in Retiro, to treat patients with coronavirus from Barrio 31, one of the most contagious areas in the City of Buenos Aires.

The installation of the enlistment center, in which tests will also be carried out, was announced this Wednesday by the president Alberto Fernández to the referents of popular neighborhoods of the City of Buenos Aires in a meeting in Olivos, after the death of Ramona Medina.

“What we did is start building with containers, some of our own, in the hands of the Argentine Air Force, and others containers donated by Barrick Gold Mining, that we went to look for San Juan 20 days ago, “said Defense Minister Agustín Rossi.

Firstly, the work was intended for the attention of military personnel and security forces operating on the ground. “Now the President has asked us to also include inhabitants of Barrio 31 there, who need to go through an isolation stage and who obviously in the homes themselves it is difficultRossi said.

“We have a tent that we are installing with 50 more places and we are receiving other containers from the Barrick company that will allow us to increase our capacity as we can continue to move forward,” he said.

Transportation will also provide a focus in the area

Meanwhile, from the Ministry of Transportation they indicated that they are setting up an isolation center in the Cruise Terminal. In this way, another 700 beds will be added for the care of coronavirus patients, with the focus on infections in Barrio 31.

“The objective is to have a place near Barrio 31 to attend to cases that arise there“they explained from the portfolio that Mario Meoni directs.

They also announced that they offered “to mount a similar center in the area of ​​the Railway Museum, in Retiro, where there are spaces that can be easily adapted to this dynamic”, although this initiative, they indicated, is still in “evaluation stage “.
