Argentines stranded abroad, DESPERATE to return

The Chancellery reported this Sunday that this weekend it received “more than 15,000 calls” and processed “11,000 inquiry forms” of Argentine citizens “in areas of active transmission” of the coronavirus.

This was reported in a statement by the ministry led by Felipe Solá, who produced a list of “frequently asked questions to facilitate access to information.”

Here is the list of answers that work as a guide for Argentines who are stranded:

-Flights from Europe, the US, Iran, Japan, South Korea and China that board before Monday, March 16 at 11:59 p.m. (local time) may land in Argentina. Later, from those countries, only Aerolineas Argentinas flights will enter.

–From those countries not included in the risk areas -even if they make a stopover- there are no restrictions on the entry of flights. In any case, the status of your flight must be verified with the airline.

-If you or a family member are abroad and your flights have been affected by the coronavirus pandemic, in the first instance, you should contact the airline or company with whom you had the scheduled return ticket, to find out the flight alternatives that proposes you. If possible, it is suggested to consult with other airlines in order to return to Argentina as soon as possible.

-Remember that every Argentine citizen who arrives at a border post will be authorized to enter our country, and must complete the quarantine when appropriate.

-In case of not having return alternatives due to flight cancellation, your data must be provided through a form specially designed to relieve and channel requests for assistance. It is NOT a “repatriation” form.

Airlines added a second flight to search for returnees

In parallel, Pablo Ceriani, president of Aerolineas Argentinas, remarked that they are “working to the maximum” of their possibilities “in all operational and customer service areas” and maintained that “the commitment is very high in all sectors and levels of the company”.
