Grupo Arcor ended the first quarter of the year with sales of 34,640 million pesos and a profit of 476.6 million pesos, according to the Cordovan company.
Compared to the previous year period, total sales of the decreased by seven percent in pesos and five percent in volume.
“Argentina’s operations, which include exports to third parties, represented 70 of the consolidated sales, while those of foreign companies complete the remaining 30 percent,” the company reported.
The performance achieved reflects an improvement in relation to the same period of the previous year, thanks to different actions carried out during 2019, when the Group applied strong cost containment policies, managing to capture operational efficiencies, with an adequate management of working capital. .
Strategy
Among the actions implemented that allowed obtaining this result, the reduction of fixed costs and the strict control of stock levels stand out, with the consequent saving of associated logistics and inventory costs. Likewise, the Group continues to apply policies aimed at maintaining adequate levels of liquidity, in order to ensure compliance with its obligations and financing of operations.

It is relevant to mention that the scenario for the development of the Group’s businesses changed due to the epidemiological situation related to the Covid-19 outbreak, with the sales volumes of some of its businesses being affected.
